Well, I guess it’s time for me to weigh in on Trump Care. I’ve been on Facebook and Twitter all day reading some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever read. “Trump is going to kill 30 million Americans and republicans are laughing”, “This is the worst thing to happen since 9/11”, “Trump is mentally ill, take away his health insurance”. Quick note on that last one: *Donald Trump doesn’t need health insurance* but that’s neither here nor there. The best thing I could think of was to compile a list of 3 simple reasons stupid liberals are OVERREACTING about Trump Care.

1. Insurance isn’t meant to cover pre-existing conditions
The whole point of health insurance is to transfer the financial risk that comes along with your wellbeing to an insurance company in exchange for a monthly or yearly payment. Each person is an individual investment for the company. In order to ensure they’re not making a bad investment, the insurance company must assess the risk. They do so by looking at the past and pertinent history of your health, and if you have pre-existing health conditions, that will determine either how much your premium payment will be or if they can risk covering you at all. It depends on the condition. Typically younger, healthy people pay less, but the longer you wait, the more it’ll cost, because the health complications that accumulate as you age, elevate the risk. If the risk is too high, the company can’t profit off the investment. This sounds evil, but the whole reason insurance exists is for the prospective profit, same as anything else. Take away the profit, you take away the incentive for efficiency.

2. There is no list of pre-existing conditions in the bill
Everyone and their stupid mother has been freaking out about the “list” of pre-existing conditions that Trump and the eeeeevil house republicans put in the healthcare bill. Yeah, there’s no list in the bill. The list was put out by the ever-credible, fear mongering CNN. The list included things like, cancer, diabetes, c-sections, and rape. Typical CNN, blasting out leftist propaganda like it’s going out of style (it is). They just threw rape in there, and it makes absolutely no sense. Rape is a horrible thing, but it isn’t a pre-existing condition, and a victim wont be denied insurance because of it. One of 3 things will happen. 1- victim has no health coverage prior to attack and sustains an injury (without going into detail, say some sort of physical trauma or the contraction of an STD). Insurance company assesses the risk and either denies coverage or increases the premium due to the injury sustained during the attack. 2- The victim has prior coverage and sustains an injury during the attack. The victim is covered because the injury isn’t a pre-existing condition. 3- The victim sustains no physical or mental injury during the attack. It doesn’t matter if they have coverage or not, because there’s nothing to insure. Say, for instance, you fall down the stairs and break your neck. Falling down the stairs isn’t a pre-existing condition, a broken neck is. If you had insurance prior to the injury you sustained during the fall, you’re covered. If you wait til after you fall, and try to get insurance after the fact, they’ll say, “no, that’s not how it works.” Insurance isn’t supposed to be retroactive, if it was, nobody would buy it until they needed it. Right? Insurance is for injuries or afflictions. Unless you want the insurance company to conduct a criminal investigation, rape has no place on the completely made up list of pre-existing conditions by CNN. It’s just more bullshit rhetoric from a bullshit media outlet.

3. The blanket ban on insurance companies from “discriminating” against pre-existing conditions hasn’t even been lifted
Yup, you read that right. Everything I just wrote is basically meaningless because the mandate that bans insurance companies from assessing pre-existing conditions wasn’t abolished in the bill. Trump just deferred to the states. So, if you live in a trashbag leftist state like me (Massachusetts) you pretty much have nothing to worry about anyways. Nothing to worry about unless you pay for your health insurance.
Health insurance isn’t a right. No matter how many politicians try to earn your vote by saying so, it’s bullshit. If it’s funded by taxpayers through government dictate, IT ISN’T A RIGHT, IT’S A PRIVILEGE
