Ok, I’m not trying to sound like a dick, but this “poem” is a heaping pile of dog shit. I wish I could say that at least the kids are talented, but they really aren’t. Nor are they brave. There’s nothing brave about agreeing with a trendy point of view. There’s nothing brave about being applauded and praised for having a popular opinion that most people agree with, and there’s nothing admirable about three indoctrinated teenagers regurgitating a bunch of leftist bullshit on a talk show that nobody watches.
At least, nobody with a job and an IQ above 30. (I only saw the video because somebody shared it on social media– I don’t watch Queen Latifas talk show– I didn’t even know she had one– my IQ is slightly over 30, but I digress) Anyways, let’s dive right in and pick apart this clown abortion of a poem.
Here in America, in every single state, they have a set of standards for every subject- A collection of lessons that the teacher’s required to teach by the end of the term , But the greatest lessons you’ll ever teach us will not come from your syllabus The greatest lessons you will ever teach us, you will not even remember. You never told us what we weren’t allowed to say . We just learned how to hold our tongues . Now somewhere in America, there is s a child holding a copy of “Catcher in the Rye” and there is a child holding a gun . But only one of these things have been banned by their state government And it’s not the one that can rip through flesh It’s the one that says “fuck you” on more pages than one
What I gather from this is that they’re angry that books are banned. I agree. Books shouldn’t be banned, literature shouldn’t be altered, and opinions shouldn’t be silenced. Freedom of speech is one of the founding principles of this country, right? Cool. So far so good. Let’s move on. Let’s just ignore the random gun reference that had nothing to do with anything other than an attempt to push a biased agenda backed by a false narrative that happens to be contradicted by an insurmountable wall of facts and statistics.
They go on:
Because we must control what the people say, and how they think- And if they want to become the overseer of their own selves, then we’ll show them a real one-And somewhere in America, there’s a child sitting at his mother’s computer, reading the homepage of the KKK’s website, and that’s open to the public-But that child will never have read “To Kill a Mockingbird” because the school has banned it for it’s use of the “N” word
Wait wait wait. 20 seconds ago, they were all about free speech and now they want government mandated censorship on websites with differing opinions? Now, don’t get me wrong, the KKK are a bunch of inbred assholes, but even assholes are entitled to their constitutional right to be assholes. You can’t have it both ways. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to tolerate bigoted organizations like the KKK and BLM for the sake of freedom and liberty. Bring back “To Kill a Mockingbird”, it’s only the “N” word… Ban the KKK, they use the “N” word. Words don’t matter unless liberals say they matter, and speech can only be free speech as long as everyone’s subjective feelings are safe! And if we’re offended, we’ll riot and burn buildings!!… Where was I going with this?
Maya Angelou is prohibited because we’re not allowed to talk about rape in school- We were taught that ‘just because something happens, doesn’t mean you are to talk about it’
What? Who ever said not to talk about your rape? Seriously, who EVER said that?? When has anyone ever walked into a police station to report a rape and had the officer at the desk say “shhhh! We don’t investigate RAPES, we’re too busy dealing with legal gun owners committing less than one percent of the national crime! Shit happens, just forget it” I’m guessing that’s never happened, but I’m just a big meanie. Whatever. Trigger warning.
They built us brand new shopping malls so that we’ll forget where we’re really standing- On the bones of the Hispanics, on the bones of the slaves, on the bones of the Native Americans, on the bones of those who fought just to speak!
Oh, that’s why they built shopping malls? To mask slavery and oppression? You don’t think it was something simpler? Like, generating revenue? Renting space to retailers and vendors to turn a profit? In an attempt to erase racism from history, we accidentally stumbled across one of the biggest macroeconomic successes of the 20th century? Oops! Americas first shopping mall opened in Minnesota in the late 1950’s. It was clearly because someone was scrambling for a way to silence “the bones of the hispanics, the slaves and the native Americans” 300 YEARS LATER.. Makes perfect sense.
Transcontinental Railroad to Japanese Internment Camps- There are things missing from our history books- But we were taught that it is better to be silent, than to make them uncomfortable
If you didn’t learn about it, how do you know about it? Unless some leftist teacher wrote the whole script and you’re all just– eh I’m probably just being closed minded, let’s move on
Somewhere in America, private school girls search for hours through boutiques, trying to find the prom dress of their dreams- While kids on the south side spending hours searching through the ‘lost and found’ ’cause winter’s coming soon and that’s the only jacket they have
So, what? You want a fucking prom dress to keep you warm in the winter? Ok, let’s do it. Let’s start a charity for all the south side thugs to get prom dresses to wear in the winter to keep warm. I’ll donate the first thousand bucks to see that shit. It isn’t brave to demand something from someone else, simply because you don’t have it. That’s called begging.
Kids are late to class for working the midnight shift- They give awards for best attendance, but not for keeping your family off the streets- These kids will call your music ghetto, they will tell you you don’t talk right- Then they’ll get in the backseat of a car with all their friends singing ‘ bout how “They’re ‘bout that life” and “we can’t stop”
So the people who write these songs are from the streets and understand the struggle (for lack of a better term), they release a song about their struggles and the album gets purchased by people from all different income classes including upper and middle. The struggling artist becomes rich off the record sales, but the upper and middle class kids who made them rich are now demonized for enjoying their music? “Buy my album and make me rich, but don’t you dare sing along with the lyrics.” Funny because the artist now lives in a 3 million dollar mansion in a gated community, but it’s the fans who are the hypocrites. Draw your own conclusions.
Somewhere in America, schools are promoting self confidence- While they whip out their scales and shout out your body fat percentage in class. While heftier girls are hiding away, and the slim fit beauties can’t help but giggle with pride- The preppy kids go thrift shopping ‘cause they think it sounds real fun- But we don’t ‘cause that’s all we got money for- ‘Cause momma works for the city, momma only gets paid once a month
Self confidence is paramount. Something to live by. I’ll advocate self confidence until the day I die because I believe it’s one of the most important virtues someone can have. Fact: Not being a fat slob will do wonders for your self confidence. Indisputable. Don’t listen to those complacent phonies who say they’re proud to be obese. Of course they aren’t. They’re lazy. What’s easier? A strict diet and persistent exercise, or sitting back in a lazy boy, lathering your neck rolls with breakfast grease, singing about how amazing you are and demanding people applaud your natural beauty? Spoiler alert: it’s the latter, and no one’s impressed.
Somewhere in America, a girl is getting felt up by a grown man on the subway. She’s still in her school uniform and that’s part of the appeal. It’s hard to run in knee socks and Mary Jane’s, and all her male teachers know it too. Coaches cover up the star players raping freshmen after the dance- Women are killed for rejecting dates, but God forbid I bring my girlfriend to prom
You can bring your girlfriend to prom, she’ll probably win prom king. Again, this isn’t brave, it’s trendy. I’m also going to go ahead and assume that the “women killed for rejecting dates” number is really low. You don’t hear much of that- must be because they cover it up with shopping malls or something.
I do agree that that shitty swimmer rapist kid, along with his hackjob judge should have gone to jail for a long time. That whole situation is messed up, but you know who else agrees? LITERALLY EVERYONE. Another popular opinion, aren’t I so brave for having it?
Girls black out drunk at the after party, take a picture before her wounds wake her- How many pixels is your sanity worth? What’s a 4.0 to a cold jury?
What’d you learn in class today?
Don’t walk fast, don’t speak loud, keep your hands to yourself, keep your head down- Keep your eyes on your own paper, if you don’t know the answer, fill in “C”- Always wear earbuds when you ride the bus alone- If you feel like someone’s following you, pretend you’re on the phone
This really fell apart towards the end. They just start giving away life hacks like “keep your hands to yourself” and tips to pass a multiple choice test. Did they run out of trendy stuff to complain about? “What’s with the last line: if you feel like someone’s following you, pretend you’re on the phone” What’s that about? Why is it even in there? They’re just mailing it in at this point.
A teacher never fails, only you do
Every state in America, the greatest lessons, are the ones you don’t remember learning
“The greatest lessons in America are the ones you don’t remember learning.” I saw this garbage video on the occupy democrats page. The same organization that rallies for free college. Think about that. “The American education system is oppressive, sexist, racist and historically inaccurate! GIVE US MORE” -liberal logic.
The sad truth about all this is that these three young girls who are being paraded around spewing someone else’s twisted opinions, are completely brainwashed into thinking that the cards are insurmountably stacked against them. The liberal media is constantly pushing this false agenda and everyone applauds it because this entire generation thrives to be victims. Victims of hate speech, victims of systemic racism, victims of sexism, victims of the wage gap, victims of oppression. All this in America, 2016. Where a president can win a Nobel peace prize just or being black and a man can win “woman of the year” for wearing a dress. It’s pathetic and counterproductive, but then again, what do I know? I have so much cis white male privilege that my opinions can’t matter at all, right?
